This summer, I interned under the Special Events Manager at Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation. I was only allowed to work 30 hours per week. I would look at my weeks in advanced and plan when I was going to come in to the office according to what events we have going on that week. Every Thursday and Friday, we put on Bay Jammin’ Concert and Cinema Series. This is where I helped implement this event, manage trash and make announcements at the event. I was able to my relationships with the community and make connections. When I worked in the office, I helped answer phone calls and take messages. My final project of the summer was a Back to School Health Fair where we had 15 vendors come out and provide information about their services. We also gave away 500 backpacks full of school supplies to out visitors. I received $9.80 an hour and worked 30 hours per week.
